UN COMTRADE, the United Nations International Trade Statistics Database, contains over three billion data records from more than over 170 reporter countries/areas, organized by commodities/service categories and partner countries. These data are subsequently transformed into the United Nations Statistics Division standard format with consistent coding and valuation using the processing system.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is an intergovernmental body established to "support developing countries to access the benefits of a globalized economy more fairly and effectively." It also "compiles, validates and processes a wide range of data collected from national and international sources." Most of the time series cover long periods, with some dating back to 1948, for almost all economies of the world. UNCTAD's online statistics portal produces more than 150 indicators and statistical time series essential for the analysis of international trade, economic trends, foreign direct investment, external financial resources, population and labor force, commodities, information economy, and maritime transport.
