Advocates for Youth is a global organization dedicated to provide information and resources to adolescents, their parents and sex educators about sexual and reproductive health.

BAM! Body and Mind
 
The site sponsored by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention helps children ages 9-13, learn about their bodies, nutrition, diseases and other cool health related topics. In the teacher's corner, the site provides interactive, educational, and fun activities that are linked to the national education standards for science and health.

Moving to the Future
 
This online book is sponsored by the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists (ASPHN), an organization that provides leadership on food and nutrition policy, programs, and services. Playworks
 
Playworks is a non-profit organization who key purpose is to engage students in the benefits of recess/gym where they can build their social and emotional skills. Under the resources tab, explore hundreds of games by group size, available space and equipment, appropriate ages, and developmental skills. Their main purpose is to include everyone and keep kids moving.

Presidential Youth Fitness Program
 
The National Fitness Foundation helps schools achieve excellence in physical education through quality fitness education and assessment practices. There is a physical educator guide in PDF format that tells you how to get started, motivate your students and assess their fitness needs. The resource library section provides a wealth of information and resources to help teachers with ideas, activities and assessments for their students to engage in.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
SAMHSA, an agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services, was established "to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities." This website provides information and resources about the prevention, treatment and recovery from a wide range of health issues. Topics covered include suicide prevention, recovery from disasters, alcohol abuse and substance abuse. Within most of these topics a variety of print and online resources can be retrieved. Available in multiple languages.

SHAPE America: Society of Health and Physical Educators
 
SHAPE America is an organization for professionals in school-based health, physical education and physical activity. It provides professional development and advocacy resources, as well as standards and guidelines. Formerly known as American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance(AAHPERD).

Standards

National Health Education Standards (NHES)
 
Developed by the Joint Committee on National Health Education Standards the National Health Education Standards (NHES) focus on eight standards. Benchmarks are provided for grades 2, 5, 8, and 12. Available from the website of the Center for Disease Control's section on Healthy Schools.

National Physical Education Standards
 
Revised in 2013 the National PE Standards identify what a student should know and be able to do as result of a quality physical education program. Available on this webpage are the major standards, as well as Grade Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education.

New Jersey Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Standards
 
Part of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, this section focuses on the development of healthy habits. The 2020 standards include changes in legislation for Dating Violence for grades 7-12.
