NUR3260: Critical Thinking and Inquiry: CEUs

Finding CEUs

The New Jersey Board of Nursing (part of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs) "licenses registered nurses and practical nurses, and regulates the nursing profession in New Jersey" ().

Continuing education can be completed by attending certified courses. These courses are regulated in the New Jersey Administrative Code, N.J.A.C. 13:37-5.3(d)1-15

CEUs can be found in a number of places, but always confirm that they have been approved by an authoritative credentialing organization, like the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

  • Professional Organizations
Professional nursing organizations often offer courses or certification programs that may go toward CEU requirements.
  • CINAHL Search
Performing a keyword search in CINAHL may also show you links to CEUs on a given topic.  Be sure to limit by date, to and click the Check Here for Full Text link to see if more information is available.  Not all links will take you directly to the CEU information, so you may need to explore the page.

In both cases, you may need to look around the page for links titled "Continuing Education", "Education", "CE", or something similar.
