Basic Skills: Beginning a teacher preparation program requires qualifying scores (set by the NJ Department of Education) on a test of basic skills (reading, writing, and math). Candidates can use wither the PRAXIS CORE, the ACT, or the SAT (or a combination of these) to meet this state requirement.
