In addition to MMY, the Cheng Library offers a wide range of resources for locating supplemental information about a test.

Books, such as Tests In Print, and other online sources, such as scholarly articles from our various databases, can offer a context within which your test has been used, or highlight issues or concerns about its use.

Academic Search Premier This link opens in a new window Large, interdisciplinary full-text database contains over 4,800 full-text publications, including academic journals, magazines, books, and trade publications. Offers broad subject coverage for a variety of disciplines, including anthropology, area studies, biology, chemistry, ethnic and multicultural studies, food science and technology, general science, geography, law, mathematics, music, pharmaceutical sciences, physics, psychology, religion and theology, women's studies, and many other fields. Educational Administration Abstracts This link opens in a new window Index to articles on topics in educational administration from over 150 periodicals, with links to full-text content where available. [1993 - present]
ERIC (via EBSCOhost) This link opens in a new window The ERIC database, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education, provides access to more than 1.3 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials. Included in the database are citation records, abstracts, and (where available) full-text links for journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers, and other education-related materials. Google Scholar (Full Text @ Cheng Library) This link opens in a new window Access full-text articles from the Library's subscription e-journals using the familiar Google search engine. For access to our subscription journals through Google Scholar, select the link above and then follow these steps: 1. Click on the top-left corner menu on the screen 2. Select "Settings" from the menu 3. On the next page, select "Library links" from the menu on the left side of the screen 4. Type "cheng" in the search field and run the search 5. Select "David and Lorraine Cheng Library - Full Text@Cheng Library" and then click on the "Save" button This will enable you to see the "Full Text@Cheng Library" links displayed with your search results.
JSTOR Arts and Sciences Collections (I through IX, and XIV) and Life Sciences Collection This link opens in a new window Archive of over 1,650 major journals in the humanities, social sciences, business, education, area studies, mathematics and statistics, life sciences, and much more. Funding for the acquisition of the JSTOR Arts and Sciences V, VI, VIII, and IX Collections was provided by a generous gift from the Student Government Association. [18th Century - Present]
Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts This link opens in a new window This database provides access to the literature of librarianship, information management, online information retrieval, cataloging and classification, bibliometrics, and other subjects in the broader field of information science. Content is drawn from approximately 720 different journals and other periodicals, with indexing back to 1960.
NoveList K-8 Plus This link opens in a new window Providing subject access for thousands of fiction and non-fiction titles aimed at the K-8 population, NoveList K-8 Plus also offers full-text reviews for many titles from sources like School Library Journal and Booklist. The database also provides access to teacher resources for promoting reading, including bibliographies and articles on teaching with fiction, scripts of book talks, and tips on using picture books as a springboard to interesting and educational activities.
ProQuest Central This link opens in a new window ProQuest Central is a large multidisciplinary database indexing over 14,000 publications, the majority of them available in full text. Over 160 subjects areas are covered extensively in this product including business and economics, health and medical, news and world affairs, technology, social sciences, and more. The publications include over 6,500 scholarly journals, over 3,600 trade publications, over 2,000 magazines and newspapers, and over 800 industry reports, plus dissertations and theses, company annual reports, and videos.
ProQuest Education Database This link opens in a new window The ProQuest Education Database includes over 1,130 full-text periodicals and 18,000 dissertations, supporting research on the theory and practice of education. Education Database covers not only the literature on primary, secondary, and higher education but also special education, home schooling, adult education, and hundreds of related topics.
PsycARTICLES This link opens in a new window PsycARTICLES offers complete access to the full text of more than 80 landmark journals in behavioral science and related fields ranging from education, to nursing, to business, to neuroscience. The database currently contains over 160,000 articles from many of the most important journals in psychology, including 34 journals published by the American Psychological Association. Most titles feature complete content from the current issue back to volume 1, issue 1, with complete coverage of all subject areas relevant to psychological science including basic/experimental psychology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, education and school psychology, health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, social psychology and social processes. Articles in PsycARTICLES are also accessible through links in the (larger) PsycINFO database. [1894 - present]
PsycINFO This link opens in a new window PsycINFO is the principal abstracting and indexing database covering peer-reviewed literature in the behavioral sciences and mental health. The database currently contains over 3.3 million records for articles from over 2,500 journals, books, and dissertations. Although the major focus of the database is psychology, it also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, technology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law, and others. The records in PsycINFO are organized by a rigorous and detailed system of subject classification to support high-precision searching, and links to full-text content are provided where available. Test Reviews

Why use test reviews?

Test reviews provide valuable information about quality, accuracy and uses for various psychological tests.

One of the best places to look for this test reviews is through the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY), which has been published since 1938, and is currently on its 19th volume. Each volume provides detailed information about current (or significantly changed) psychological tests, as well as one or more reviews by carefully selected experts who are highly qualified to assess tests in their areas of expertise.

The full run of the Mental Measurements Yearbook (all volumes) is available in the Cheng Library's Reference collection (Ref. BF 176 .M467).

And, while it might seem easy enough to just go to the shelf and look up your test, one flaw of MMY is that you might have to look in all nineteen volumes to find the test you're after... if it's even there!

But, the good news is that there's a better way! The Buros Center for Testing, named after Oscar K. Buros (creator of MMY) has a searchable interface that will quickly tell you:

If the test is reviewed in MMY,
Which volume you'll find it in!

Here's how it works:

Go to the Buros Center for Testing website (http://marketplace.unl.edu/buros/).
Either browse the Alphabetical Listing or search for your test by title.
Look for your test in the list of results. If it's not there, check your spelling or try modifying your search for better results.

If you find your test, don't worry that there's a price next to it! We're only using this page to find out which print volume has the test review.
Click the title of your test and look at the Reviewed In section to find out which volume of MMY you need to look in!
Do not buy the test review through BUROS.org! (unless you really want to, of course!). This is when you'll need to make a trip to the Cheng Library to check the print volume (the Sixteenth, in this case). The volume number is clearly printed on the spine of each book, making it easy to locate.

Some tests may be reviewed in more than one volume, although the most current is usually the one you'll want, as it will address any significant changes from previous versions.
Locate your test alphabetically in the volume you need or with one of the indexes in the back of the volume.
The entry itself will provide you with some basic information about the test you're exploring, as well as references to other, related information. This may include articles and reviews of earlier editions.
Past this basic information, you'll find the review(s)! Look for the italicized introduction, providing the name(s) of the reviewer(s) and their credentials. Reviews include the following categories:
- DESCRIPTION
- DEVELOPMENT
- TECHNICAL
- COMMENTS & SUMMARY
Don't stop there! There might be one or more additional reviews available for you to explore!
