Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST)
Originally established to explore ways to use technology to help students with disabilities, CAST developed the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) which uses flexible methods and materials to teach all students. This website provides extensive information about UDL, and how to implement. Its Learning Tools section includes software to create online books, design lesson plans, conduct online research, etc.

IRIS Center
The IRIS Center aims to provide free, high-quality, online training resources for faculty and professional development providers about students with disabilities. These research-based resources include tutorials, videso, podcast, brochures, information briefs and case studies. This Web site is made possible through a grant between Vanderbilt University and the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education.

National Center on Universal Design for Learning
Sponsored by CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology) this website includes videos, presentations, links and articles to teach the basics of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and how to implement UDL in the classroom. Also provides information about advocacy for UDL, how to connect with other teachers and research about UDL.

Crayola Creatively Alive Children
A collaboration between Crayola and the National Association of Elementary School Principals this professional development series was designed to support arts-infused education to help children build creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication (21st century skills). Includes videos, guides and other resources.
Grades: K - 5
PBS Teachers: Resources for the Classroom
In addition to its high quality video programming PBS also provides teaching resources for PreK to Grade 12. Search by grade level then subject area to get links to lesson plans, curriculum units, games, videos and a variety of teaching activities.

Other Resources

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
National Board Certification is an advanced teaching credential that complements, but does not replace, a state's teacher license. It is achieved by successful completion of a voluntary assessment program that recognizes teachers who meet high standards. This website provides standards information for each of the 25 certificates currently offered by NBPTS.

Professional Development Resources: A Guide for Professors in Residence
Developed for the Professors in Residence who support teachers in WPUNJ's Professional Development Schools (PDS) this guide identifies teaching resources available from the Cheng Library.

What Works Clearinghouse (WWC)
Developed by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), part of the U.S. Department of Education, this website identifies education practices that are based on reviews of education research. It includes a searchable database of research studies that have been reviewed.
