WP LEARN Badge (Library Engagement and Research Needs)

      The LEARN Badge is offered by the David & Lorraine Cheng Library and will engage students through supplemental learning activities which support their academic goals and fostering their lifelong learning objectives. Some examples include our portfolio of library workshops on citation resources, introductory and advanced database searching, information literacy, subject specific research tools, and programs from our Civic Literacy Initiative.

Core Requirements

To  earn the LEARN badge, students must complete

  1. One (1) program within each of the Four (4) Tiers
    1. One- Tier 1
    2. One- Tier 2
    3. One- Tier 3
    4. One- Tier 4

       

Timeline of Student Completion

  1. Students can complete the WP LEARN Badge at their own pace.
  2. The Library will provide adequate offerings for the WP LEARN Badge to be completed over the course of One (1) academic year for the General Requirements.
  3. It is recommended that students complete the badge over the course of multiple academic years to align relevant Badge offerings with their desired course of study, career goals, or lifelong learning objectives.

Tier Level Descriptions

Tier 1 offerings will include a variety of student opportunities, but completion will consist primarily of attendance.

Tier 2 offerings will include a variety of student opportunities, but will incorporate active learning and/or reflection as a requirement for completion.

Tier 3 offerings will include a variety of student opportunities, but will incorporate the submission of evidence demonstrating competency in the content of the program offering.

Tier 4 offerings will include a variety of student opportunities, but will incorporate the submission of evidence demonstrating competency in the content of the program offering and include constructive feedback from a Faculty Librarian.
