EXSC5010: Introduction to Research: Finding Books & Media

This guide will provide an overview of library resources and services available to you and assist you with the research process.

The Cheng Library recently entered into a partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Rowan University, Stockton University and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), to provide users with access to a shared catalog of resources. This allows WP faculty, staff, and students to borrow directly from these academic libraries using their WP ID card. Requests for materials can also be made through the Cheng Library catalog.

Searching the Catalog

If you just want to find out what books and media are available at Cheng Library, select Books & Media from the Library homepage. Simply enter one or more of your keywords and press the search button to begin.

Narrow your results using the limits on the left side of the results page.

When you've found a book that looks interesting, write down the location and call number and head to the shelves or click on the link for e-books.

eBooks & Streaming Video

While searching the catalog, you'll find a number of books and videos with a location of Internet Resource, and a link in place of the call number.

Simply follow the link ('Click here for full text', 'View Streaming Video', etc.) to access the online version of these books and videos.

You will need to log in to view these items from off campus (and on campus, for videos).  If you are having trouble, contact the reference desk for assistance (973-720-2116;
