Welcome to the Research Guide for HIST 599!

This Guide is intended to help students in HIST 599: Selected Topics - History of Suburbia design and carry out successful research projects on a topic in the history of suburbia. While the history of suburban life and development extends to the earliest decades of U.S. history, the contemporary landscape shaped by suburbanization on a mass scale dates mainly from the period following the Second World War. Not surprisingly, the bulk of information resources on suburbanization also focuses on these years.

Each page in this Guide covers finding tools for identifying and using both secondary and primary sources in history, with an emphasis on materials useful for topics in the history of suburbia in the U.S.

If you have any questions moving forward, please feel free to contact me using the information on the right. I am happy to assist you with any aspect of your project.
