Welcome to the POL 3210 Research Guide!

This Guide is intended to help students in POL 3210: Politics of U.S. Education carry out the major research assignment for the course.

Your assignment involves writing:

  • an annotated bibliography
  • a policy brief
  • a policy analysis research paper

In each case, your focus will be on both federal education policy (especially as represented by the "Race To The Top" program and the "No Child Left Behind Act") and New Jersey state education policy (as represented by the various "Abbott v. Burke" decisions issued by the NJ Supreme Court since 1985). Potential sources of useful information can include journal articles, books and book chapters, federal and state government documents, policy analyses issued by education policy research organizations, high-quality journalism, and other materials.

The various sections of this guide are intended to help you at every stage of the project, with an emphasis on bibliographic research and the clear identification of sources of useful information..

See the tabs above for starting points and specific resources that can be useful in carrying out this research.

If you have any questions moving forward, please feel free to contact me using the information on the right. I am happy to assist you with any aspect of research.
