Professional Organizations

Many professions have dedicated organizations to represent the interests of their LGBT members. Often these groups will appear as committees or working groups within national and international organizations. While this list is not exhaustive, many professions have LGBT representation.

ALA Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Round Table

NJGJA: The Association of LGBT Journalists
"...NLGJA is an organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working from within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. NLGJA opposes all forms of workplace bias and provides professional development to its members."
NOGLSTP: National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Professionals Inc.
NOGLSTP's mission is to "empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by providing education, advocacy, professional development, networking, and peer support."

National LGBT Bar Association
"The National LGBT Bar Association is a national association of lawyers, judges and other legal professionals, law students, activists and affiliated lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal organizations. The LGBT Bar promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBT community in all its diversity."
The Publishing Triangle: The Association of Lesbian and Gay Men in Publishing
"The purpose of the Publishing Triangle is to further the publication of books and other materials written by LGBT authors or with LGBT themes."
Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals
"The combined vision and mission of the Consortium is to achieve higher education environments in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni have equity in every respect. The Pride Center of New Jersey
