MKT6080: Marketing Management: Getting Started

Keyword Searching

New technologies can be difficult to research because the industry may not be as well defined as a more traditional industry such as the apparel or beverage industries. This means that the keywords you use for searching will definitely affect your results. Since technology is always changing, it is helpful to maintain lists of key terms, brands, players and individuals as you find them in articles and postings. These terms can then be used to improve your keyword search results. When considering the "competition", it is helpful to think of functionality. An Ipad for example is more than an e-book reader.

Articles on e-books and readers can be founnd by searching on the following terms

  • digital readers
  • electronic books
  • e-books
  • e-book readers
  • electronic book readers
  • kindle, nook, ipad
  • google books
  • online books

Google Trends

Check out Google Trends for terms such as "geolocation" or try a search on a company name.
